LUTHER BADMAN KEITH NOMINATED AGAIN FOR DETROIT MUSIC AWARDS

DETROIT— Bluesman Luther Badman Keith has been awarded his fourth nomination for a Detroit Music Award.

Motor City Music Foundation voters, who make the Detroit Music Awards nominations, made Keith one of the nominees for 2007 in the Outstanding Blues/R& Songwriter category. Keith has previously been nominated twice for Outstanding Blues Band, in 2004 and 2005, and once for Outstanding Blues Recording for Thunder In My Blues, released in 2003. The band won the 2005 Detroit Blues Challenge and represented Detroit in the 2006 in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn.

”It’s a real honor for myself and my band who bring my songs to life,” Keith said. “Equally important, it’s great to be nominated along with some of the most talented song writers anywhere. To me, just being nominated is winning, no matter what the final outcome of the voting.”

Other nominees for the award include Paul Miles, Chris Canas, Kate Hart, Chef Chris, Rusty Wright and Stacie Petrie.

Keith has won acclaim for the often tongue-in-cheek humor in his songs as well as incorporating elements of rock, soul and funk into his arrangements. “Luther brings something of his own to each of his original songs,” said longtime fan Rodney Guyton of Detroit, who heads the Luther Badman Keith Fan Club. “Some of my favorites are Barbecue Baby, Six Figure Salary and Home Alone. His lyrics are always a treat and a surprise to people who hears him for the first time.”

Currently, the Luther Badman Keith Band performs every Thursday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., at Detroit Rosie O’Grady’s, 24200 Grand River at Telegraph, and every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Captain D’s Seafood, located on Seven Mile and Meyers in Detroit.
